Magdalena Król is University Professor and a Group Leader at Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Poland). She finished her PhD in 2009 and obtained Post-doctoral degree (habilitation) in 2014 at the same University. In her research she focused on a role of tumor microenvironment in cancer metastasis with particular attention put on tumor-associated macrophages and Wnt signalling. In 2016 she became ERC Starting Grant winner. The aim of this project is to investigate the TRAIN (TRAnsfer of Iron-binding proteiN) that is developed as a therapy and technology within Cellis company. For her scientific achievements she was awarded with: “Man of the Year 2016” Award in Science Category by Gazeta Wyborcza daily, The Highest Scientific Award in ‘Science’ category in ‘Poles with Verve’ plebiscite, The Highest Scientific Award in ‘Science’ category by POLITYKA weekly (in competition of 170 Top Polish Scientists), L`Oreal & Unesco ‘for Woman in Science’ habilitation (postdoctoral degree) fellowship, Fellowship from the Minister of Science & Higher Education for the Outstanding Young Researcher, Young Investigator Scholarship in Veterinary Medicine Granted by Pfizer Animal Health, START Fellowship for Outstanding Young Researchers from Foundation for Polish Science, The Highest Individual Scientific Award from the Rector of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. She is co-author of more than 45 papers in peer-review journals and more than 100 conference reports. Prof. Król is co-inventor of three patents.
